This Netflix is a Joke Festival installment, a specially designed event to benefit Catching Hope, a project by the Will and Cara Smith Foundation. It’s a laugh riot with a cause, and who better to deliver this fantastic stand-up set than Cedric the Entertainer! The critically acclaimed actor and comedian has become one of the most familiar faces in mass media. During the ‘90s, he hosted BET’s ComicView, as well as Def Comedy Jam. He has also entertained millions of Americans by hosting the 12th season of Who Wants to Be A Millionaire. Cedric has also starred in many iconic films and TV series, such as Power, Nobodies, Black-ish, and The Neighborhood.
Cedric the Entertainer has had a brilliant stand-up comedy career. During the 80s, he made a phenomenal debut at It’s Showtime at the Apollo. The performance received so much positive reviews that he was later tapped to host ComicView from 1993 to 1994. The following year, he appeared in one episode of Def Comedy Jam. From the mid-'90s to early 2000s, Cedric played the role of Cedric Jackie Robinson on the Steve Harvey Show. Cedric has also consistently entertained comedy fans with his performances in Cedric the Entertainer Presents, The Boondocks, Hot in Cleveland, and Nododies. In 2021, Cedric also hosted the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards and appeared as a guest on The Daily Show.
