In 2005, two high school students and hip-hop dancers, Toru Yamashita and Ryota Kohama, decided to form a rock band. Flashforward to 2017…From the high-tech city of Tokyo, these guys are now rockin' stadiums all over the world with their names up in neon lights. Indeed, the time has come for One Ok Rock to shine. These Japanese rockers currently conisist of Takahiro Moriuchi, Toru Yamashita, Ryota Kohama, and Tomoya Kanki. Though strongly influenced and reminiscent of their American millenial punk rock counterparts like Good Charlotte, Ellengarden, or Linkin Park, One Ok Rock has managed to carve out their own music personas that not only appealed to Asian fans, but gained an overwhelmingly huge North American following. One Ok Rock has seven studio albums to their name, and has a roster of monster hits like "Yume Yume," "Jibun Rock," "Answer is Near," "The Beginning," and "Deeper Deeper."
