Rancid has formed in 1991 in Berkeley, California. The band was founded by the punk veterans Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman. Along with Green Day and The Offspring, Rancid reanimated the mainstream interest in punk rock music in the United States in the ’90s. Rancid has released seven studio albums and has independently sold over four million records worldwide, making it one of the most successful punk groups of all time. The boys are currently recording their eighth studio album, which is expected to be released in 2013.
