Following a massive run of reunion shows across North America and Europe earlier this year, the band is keeping the energy all up as they host an electric night this fall with special guests The Red Krayola, Rainer Maria, and Anthony Family. 30 Years of Shmap'n Shmazz

Alongside their reunion shows, Cap'n Jazz is releasing a vinyl reissue of their sole album "Burritos, Inspiration Point, Fork Balloon Sports, Cards in the Spokes, Automatic Biographies, Kites, Kung Fu, Trophies, Banana Peels We've Slipped On, and Egg Shells We've Tippy Toed Over," simply known as "Shmap'n Shmazz" which is celebrating 30 years since its 1995 release. 

Released via Man with Gun, the band's lineup at the time was made up of Tim Kinsella, Davey von Bohlen, Victor Villarreal, Sam Zurick, and Mike Kinsella. The band broke off in July 1995 shortly after the album came out. In 2010, they reunited at Empty Bottle, part of Joan of Arc's Don't Mind Control Variety Show. After their impromptu set, they played an official reunion show in Louisville at the Forecastle Festival. Fast forward to 2024, they reunited once more at Empty Bottle in Chicago last October and played a couple of more shows that year. 

Celebrating the 30th anniversary of Shmap'n Shmazz, it's gonna be a legendary night as the band with a sole album rocks hard to decades of sonic impact. Though Cap'n Jazz was shortlived back in '95 and each member pursued other sonic endeavors, fans came together noticing the album which then gained a cult following. Said to be a foundation for Midwest emo, it's a record that will never be forgotten. NME listed the record on their "20 Emo Albums That Have Resolutely Stood The Test of Time", Rolling Stone included it in their 40 "greatest emo albums of all time", and its "Little League" track ranked 3rd on Vulture's best-of emo songs. 

Highly regarded by critics for its foundational impact to the genre, Suzy Exposito of Rolling Stone shares that Shmap'n Shmazz was "a significant blueprint for dozens of emo and post-hardcore acts to follow"
