Five years. Fans have patiently waited for Courtney Barnett’s huge comeback. Moving from Australia to Los Angeles, her new album takes inspiration from this new chapter in her life — embracing the change that comes. First, she shared her rousing single “Stay in Your Lane,” working through the pains of bottled-up feelings and grievances.
Next, we’ve got an introspective track “Site Unseen,” featuring Waxahatchee. In an official statement, Barnett reveals that she’s tried three times over two years to rework the song, but couldn’t seem to get it right.
“I kept hearing this really high harmony in my head, so for the fourth and final version, I asked Katie if she’d be into singing it with me. I’m a big Waxahatchee fan. I really love Katie’s songwriting and her voice, so it was an honor to have her sing on ‘Site Unseen,’” Barnett shared in an official statement about the track.
Barnett’s last studio album was released in 2021, “Things Take Time, Take Time,” hitting #5 in Australia and making it to the Billboard 200.While she’s never one to chase streams or charts, her music definitely captures hearts with her honest messages and rock energies.
