American hiphop artist Meek Mill first started out as a battle rapper in Philadelphia in the early 2000s, finding local success with short-lived rap group, The Bloodhoundz. Mill signed his first record deal with Atlanta-based rapper T.I. in 2008. Later signing with Grand Hustle Records, in 2011 Mill left to sign with Miami-based rapper Rick Ross's Maybach Music Group (MMG), with whom (alongside Warner Bros. Records) he released his 2012 debut studio album  Dreams and Nightmares, which debuted at number two on the U.S. Billboard 200.
